The IIBEC Gulf Coast Chapter is pleased to announce our August meeting of 2022. The meeting will include two presentations.
Additionally, an outlook of the chapter business going into Q3 of 2022 will be discussed.
Logan Orvis (Atlas), will present on Tapered Polyiso Roof Insulation:
Positive Drainage and Roof System Durability.
This course provides an overview of the art and science of tapered polyiso roof insulation systems, roof membrane durability, positive drainage, and key features of sustainable roof systems.
The learning objectives for this course will include: Understanding roof slope and the slope options available in roof system design; Understanding the benefits of prefabricated roof crickets, miters, and drain sumps; Being able to describe the key components of a polyiso tapered roof insulation system, the energy efficiency associated with it, its embodied energy, and its positive life cycle; and Understanding the purposes of tapered polyiso roof insulation and the benefits to roof system durability.
Greg Reisz (Sika Restoration, Sealing and Bonding) will present on
Joint Sealants: Their Design and Use (SIK 400)
This presentation will overview the joint sealants seal penetrations between construction elements – a critical part of the building envelope. Describe how they prevent the ingress of water/moisture into the building interior or through joints/gaps. Explain their role in the prevention of reinforced concrete corrosion, which can lead to structural failures. The presentation will also highlight various sealant types and uses, proper joint design and sealant selection criteria, and critical success factors and field installation techniques.

Logan Orvis (Atlas)
Mr. Orvis, Tapered Specialist, at Atlas for 2 years, has background in Roofing Project Management, Civil Engineering and Architectural design. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Logan’s passions include weightlifting, golfing, hiking, traveling with fiancée and rooting for the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.
Greg Reisz (Sika Restoration, Sealing and Bonding)
Mr. Reisz, District Manager, at Sika for 24 years, works to be a leader in concrete repair, protection, waterproofing, sealing and bonding. Sika aims to target educating design and specification professionals on various products/systems to provide project solutions.
Lunch will be provided between presentations.
Attendance at this Gulf Coast Chapter sponsored seminar qualifies attendees for continuing education/learning units as approved by IIBEC.
